Lokomotiv block Osaze’s premier league move

By Tony Ubani, in South Africa
Osaze Peter Odemwingie’s wish of playing in the Premier League has hit the rock as his Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow rebuffed a 1.6 million pounds (about N360m) offer from Birmingham.

The Eagles attacker has only one year left in his contract with the Russian club, but Lokomotiv Moscow are asking for 8m pounds (about N1.7b), before they can allow Osaze to move to England.

The 28-year-old Osaze has always dreamt of moving to England and the latest twist in his transfer wish has left his hope in tatters. This is coming at a time he and his Eagles team mates had a dismal outing at the South Africa 2010 World Cup.

Osaze was used sparingly by Eagles coach Lars Lagerback in the Eagles group B campaign and this left the Edo-born player embittered.  He accused the coach of pandering to the wish of certain players. Osaze also lampooned team captain Nwakwo Kanu whom he accused of romancing Nigeria Football Federation officials just to obtain favour.
