Minna— Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Aliyu, has called on Nigerians to rise up against rigging in whatever form in the forthcoming general election in order to have a credible election.
Addressing the people of the state at Sabon Wuse in Tafa Local Government Area, the Governor noted that the much talked about credible election which the people of the country are now yearning for can only be realised if the forthcoming elections are credible and transparent.
He said this can only be achieved if Nigerians come out massively to vote for the right candidate and defend their votes.
According to him, “it is not enough for people to yearn for a credible election without voting and you cannot also get good results without defending your vote.â€
Dr. Aliyu called on people of the state to support President Goodluck Jonathan in his bid to make life more meaningful to the people of the country especially in the areas of the 7-point Agenda which the present Federal Government is pursuing.
“We should all have it at the back of our minds that President Goodluck Jonathan did not put himself there. It was God that put him there and if we fail to support him as a nation, we are the people to suffer for it,†he said.
Aliyu reminded politicians, especially those holding elective posts, to see their calls as service to humanity and not as an opportunity to amass illegal wealth.
