The leadership of African Bar Association, AFBA, has assured participants in its 2017 Annual General Conference, scheduled for August 6 to 10 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, of a world-class international conference, with the immediate past President of the Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Jakaya Kikwete, as Keynote Speaker.

In a chat with Vanguard, AFBA’s Vice President (Budget), who was a former General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Mr. Ibrahim Mark, said: “The conference will be fantastic, the Local Organising Committee, LOC, under the chairmanship of Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike have done a marvellous job. The host governor is ready to showcase the wonders of Port Harcourt to the world.”
On security, he said: “Port Harcourt is safe; nothing is happening here. We have hosted several national and international events here in recent times.”
The National Vice-Chairman, North-West, of All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Inuwa Kadir, who is also Chairman of Nigerian Forum and Chairman of the Marketing and Contacts Committee for the conference, said: “The conference will be a tremendous success.
“We visited the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN); the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC; Governor M. A. Abubakar of Bauchi State; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, among others.”
He added that the theme of the conference, Overcoming the Legal Challenges of Doing Business in Africa, is apt.
The conference’s Keynote Speaker is Dr. Jakaya Kikwete, the immediate past President of the Republic of Tanzania. Other past and present Heads of State, personalities from across the world are expected to grace the event.
