Despite Wednesday’s loss at Soccer City to Germany , Ghana became the first African team to make the round of 16 at the first World Cup held on the continent. 

German player, Mesut Oezil scored the lone goal 15 minutes into the second half.

Ghana is second on the Group D’s table with 4points while Germany won the group with 6points.

Ghana will therefore play the Group C leader, United States while Germany will play England, who finished second in Group C.
