 MAKURDI — A lawmaker representing Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Nelson Alapa, of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, has raised alarm over threats to his life by yet-to-be identified persons.
Alapa made the outcry midweek while fielding questions from newsmen in Makurdi.
He said he was attacked few days ago at Otukpo in his GRA residence by some unknown persons who attempted to take his life.
According to him, the attack was a clear confirmation of the series of strange text messages and phone calls he has been receiving recently.
The federal lawmaker said he had since reported the matter to security agencies in the state for investigations and condemned in strong terms the tactics of perceived political opponents “which is contrary to democratic principles and norms.â€
Alapa who is the only ANPP federal legislator from Benue State vowed not to be intimidated by the antics of his detractors and political enemies who would not want to play the game by the rules.
The lawmakers emphasized that the attacks on him would not deter his intention to re_contest for another term in office to enable him consolidate on his achievements and his good works for his constituents.
