The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Oyo/Osun Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr. Oteri Richard, in front leading other Customs officers into Agbaja forest, during inspection of the seizures of 40 vehicles loaded with rice, intercepted in the forest by his Command.
THE Eastern Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service said it intercepted prohibited items in its Oron and Calabar outstations.
The seized items included 370 bags of foreign rice and used and expired tyres valued at N7.1 million.
In a statement by the command’s Comptroller, Masaya Ajiya, “while 245 bags of rice were intercepted at the Calabar outstation, 125 bags were seized at the Oron outstation.”
Ajiya, however, warned smugglers to desist from their illegal activities, saying: “The command will not condone any action of smugglers within the Eastern Marine Command.”
