ABEOKUTA—Men of Ogun State Police Command have arrested two persons for breaking into a mobile network operator’s site at Isara Remo in the state and stealing eight heavy duty batteries, valued at about N1.2 million.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement, said the two suspects, Jelili and Nwete, were arrested following a tip-off about their activities and their hideout.

Oyeyemi said: “They had earlier broken into the site of the communication giant, where the heavy duty batteries were stolen and sold to one Obinna, who is now at large.

“Investigation revealed that the said Obinna is known for receiving stolen properties in the area.

“Immediately the case was reported, the DPO, Isara Division, detailed detectives to unravel the identity of whoever was behind the act.

“Their efforts led to the arrest of the two suspects, who had made confessional statements, and all the stolen batteries have been recovered.

“Efforts are on to apprehend the fleeing Obinna, who is the receiver. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has directed that the suspects be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.”
