The Akparemogbene community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, has called on the state government to assist in clearing the waterways, which have been aiding the activities of criminals in the area.
In a statement by the national chairman of Akparemogbene Elite Forum, Dr. Donbebefa Ododo-Awomi, the community said, “in clearing the waterways, it will go a long way in reducing the activities of criminals within the community.â€
Dr. Ododo said “the waterways of Akparemogbene have become so unnavigable that the commercial activities of the people have been paralysed. The Akparemogbene people have long been abandoned by the chairman of Burutu council.
In order to salvage the situation, urgent steps must be taken to “address the problem of our clogged waterways.â€
“We call on the Governor of Delta State to prevail on the council chairman to make judicious use of our Federal Allocation,” the community added.
Enough is enough. Some council chairmen in Delta State need to be called to order.â€
