World Cup: Asaba residents jubilate as Uduaghan commissions TV  viewing centres

By Austin Ogwuda, Asaba
Soccer lovers jubilated in Asaba yesterday as the state government commissioned public Television viewing centres in the city.

State Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House Complex) Dr. Nnamdi Onochie who stood in for the governor said “it is my candid opinion that the commissioning could not have come at a better time than this period when the continent of Africa is hosting the whole world in South Africa in the WorldCup.

”A situation where electric power is not available at our homes, and we are desirous to be entertained by watching programmes on television, or our darling teams play these centres will be handy.

Our amiable governor who is people minded has come out with this solution and I know you are all delighted at these giant television screens at strategic positions for our viewing pleasure.

”With the 2010 World Cup that is three days away”, he went on, “these public view centres will bring relief, community love, re-union with old friends, public enlightenment and again businesses will pick up at the various  centres. I urge all of us to make proper  use of these viewing centres  by shunning vices  that are inimical to the development of the state and our collective goals as individuals.
