Rain paralyses activities in Owerri

 By Chidi Nkwopora

OWERRI — Economic activities in Owerri, Imo State capital, slowed down appreciably, yesterday, following two days of heavy rain experienced in the municipality and surrounding communities.

A resident of Owerri, who identified himself as Ikechukwu, said “it was providential that the Federal Government announced a work-free day (Monday). Workers would have had hard a time going to their places of work.”

It was not very clear at press time if the torrential rain caused any damage in any part of the municipality but most inhabitants of Owerri were holed up in their respective homes for the greater part of Monday.
