ASE— PROMINENT indigenes of Ase, one of the seaside communities ravaged by the 2012 flood in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Delta State, have rebuilt the official quarters of the principal and vice principal of Ase Grammar School, Ase, damaged in the 2012 flood and deserted since then.

The natives under the aegis of Ase Action Group, AAG, led by a seasoned computer technologist – Nzefili Collins Osugo, expressed their determination to support activities and efforts to provide public amenities in Ase when they paid homage to the monarch, His Royal Majesty, Ifeanyichukwu Ogeh 1 (JP), the Igwe of Ase, to intimate him of the newly renovated and re-modelled Principals house, its first accomplished project.

Commending the group for the gesture, the monarch urged members not to rest on their oars, but continue to work assiduously to bring sustainable development to the community.

Other project earmarked for execution by the group include installation of solar pump and provision of solar panels for the Ase public water scheme, re-modelling and renovation of Ase Grammar School’s administrative block.

The renovated and re-modeled Principal and Vice -Principal Lodge.

Osugo, who is the chief coordinator of AAG, said the group was gingered up because of government’s neglect of Ase community before and after the 2012 flood in the provision of social amenities.

He said the community lacked health facilities, electricity supply and potable water, while its road was not maintained, Ase Grammar School, primary schools and police station were in decrepit condition.

The group appealed to the Delta state government to come to the aid of the community as the 2012 flood left a demoralizing aftermath, which the people were yet to recover from, noting that their major constraint was funding, “as the only source of fund is through freewill donations from AAG members.”

Other members of AAG executive team at the ceremony were an estate management guru, Hyacinth Oseji, a university don, Prof. Julie N. E. Umukoro, and an economist with one of the leading new generation banks, Sunday Enebeli-Uzor.
