Former Chinese Deputy Communist Party Chief, Lu Xiwen, was sentenced on Monday to 13 years in prison for accepting bribes.
The Intermediate People’s Court of Jilin City in the north-eastern province of Jilin also ruled that Lu, also a former Beijing official, be fined 290,000 dollars and her illegal gains be returned to the state treasury.
A court document showed that Lu accepted bribes worth 18.8 million yuan while holding various official posts between 2001 and 2015.
Her sentencing is part of a sweeping anti-corruption campaign led by Chinese President, Xi Jinping.
More than one million officials have been punished for corruption since Xi came to power in 2012, the Chinese government said.
The campaign has lasted longer and struck at higher levels than many analysts expected.
Just in the past week, a former top judge and a former province leader received prison sentences for graft.
