Fake police sergeant arrested for robbery in Aba

ABA—A suspected robber, who allegedly posed as a police sergeant, has been arrested by policemen from the Central Police Station, Aba, Abia State.

Police sources told Vanguard that the suspect, Samuel Okechukwu, in company of two others now at large, allegedly snatched a Datsun mini bus with number plates APR 244 YH, from the owner, one James Eke, along Pound Road, Aba.

However, luck ran out on the fake sergeant when the victim raised alarm which attracted a police patrol team that arrested the suspect, while other members of his gang fled.

Parading the suspect, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Leye Oyebade, said the suspect had confessed to the crime and will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.

He also paraded two suspects, Chinonso Kalu and Jude Eneh, who allegedly stole two power generating sets, property of one Apostle Abundant Collins of Akunwata Street, Aba, who employed them as security guards.

The stolen power generators were later recovered from the suspects, who confessed to the crime.
