Aggrieved residents of Trinity Estate, behind Chevron Estate in Satellite Town, at the weekend, staged a peaceful protest at the Satellite Town office of Eko Electricity Distribution, EKEDP, over what they described as outrageous bills and epileptic power supply to the area by the company.
The protesters, who carried placards, some of which read: “EKEDP stop defrauding us”, “no light no payment,” “give us pre-paid meters” and “we say no to estimated bills” marched through major streets in the area singing solidarity songs.
Narrating their ordeal, chairman of the Estate committee, who led the match, Mr. Femi Ogunbajo lamented that they were forced to embark on the protest after several pleas to the company failed to yield fruitful results. Ogunbajo said, “In a month, we cannot boast of 24 hour electricity supply in this area, yet they keep distributing inflated bills to residents. It is very annoying.”
