Following the National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, and Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Company, SSAEAC, picketing of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, headquarters in Enugu, on Monday, over welfare of workers, staff disengagement and union dues deductions, a consensus has been reached for staff to go back to work.
The consensus was reached at a meeting led by Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, between EEDC Plc and the two unions in Enugu.
State Controller of the ministry in Enugu, Mr. Umunna Christopher, and others engaged the two warring parties on issues bordering on conditions of service, negotiations in respect of the procedural agreement, constituting a tripartite committee to examine the modalities for the last staff disengagement and issue of union dues deductions, and agreed that staff should go back to work while all issues raised are being addressed.
