Jos — The Plateau State government has lifted the curfew imposed on the state capital.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Gregory Yenlong, said the decision was taken at an enlarged Security Council meeting, yesterday
The curfew was imposed in the wake of the outbreak of fresh hostilities in the state capital and environs since January and had been reviewed at various times.
From the 24 hours curfew imposed in the thick of the violence, it was reviewed from 6 pm. to 6 a.m. and later from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Of recent, there had been strident calls from groups for a total lifting of the curfew since relative peace had returned to the state.
