Kebbi stops hiring jets for official trips

Kebbi State  government, yesterday, said it will no longer hire private jets for official trips unless on emergencies.

Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baballe Yauri, who disclosed this in Birnin Kebbi during a chat with the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, said the government took the decision to cut down on excessive spending in this time of recession.

He said: “Government observed that it is spending a lot on hiring private jets.

“That is why we decided to look for other means of travelling and use the savings from hiring jets to travel by air for developmental projects.”

He noted that Governor Abubakar Bagudu is complying with due process and Rule of Law as well as transparency in his administration.

He, however, assured people of the state of government’s determination to ensure welfare of the citizenry.
