ABA—Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State in the 2015 governorship election, Dr. Nyerere Anyim, has said his party’s performance in the December 21 local government polls has proven that APC is on ground in the state and set to win the 2019 general elections.

Anyim, who alleged that the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, ABSIEC, handed over result sheets and election materials to PDP candidates, insisted that the APC won majority of the 17 chairmanship seats and 292 councillorship seats in the state, but lamented that election officials were not provided with materials to record poll results.

Briefing journalists in Aba, Anyim dismissed reports that the APC is not on ground in Abia state, stressing that the party would not have won less than 10 chairmanship and 120 councillorship seats if ABSIEC had conducted free and fair polls.

He said: “People say APC is not on ground, I tell them if APC is not on ground, then they are on top. For you to know that APC is both on ground and on top, what happened in the purported local government election is a clear manifestation of the strength of the APC in Abia State.”
