ABUJA – Angered by the embarrassments the non payment of Super Falcons’ allowances had caused them, the presidency on Wednesday summoned the officials of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF and the Ministry of Sports to a meeting.
Date and venue of the meeting were however not made available as at the time of filing the report.
It will be recalled that the Falcons who won the African Women Cup of Nations, in Cameroon recently were yet to be paid their allowances.
While the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed had attributed the payment delays to the current economic recession, his colleague in the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Mr. Solomon Dalung said that the federal government did not anticipate the victory of the Falcons in the competition even though he later recanted his position apparently under pressure.
The girls out of anger had taken to the streets, protesting.

One of such protests was staged yesterday at the gates of the National Assembly.
Coming on a day President Muhammadu Buhari presented the 2017, the players were not allowed access in the compound.
Determined to press home their frustrations, the Super Falcons made their way to Aso Villa gate which leads to the presidential Villa, Abuja.
Coincidentally, they met with the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari who was making his entry into the Villa after many weeks of being away, apparently on health grounds.
The players led by team captain Rita Chikwelu ventilated their feelings on the non-payment of their allowances.
Responding, Kyari appealed to the African champs to return to the hotel, assuring them that the government would resolve the matter within 2 days.
