Maiduguri—Twin suicide bombing, yesterday, rocked El-Kanemi Roundabout main market in Maiduguri, Borno State, injuring 16.

On the attacks, which took place simultaneously at about 8:40a.m., the Commissioner of Police, Damian Chukwu, said: “Two female suicide bombers detonated their Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, and injured 16 people, while the suicide bombers were killed instantly.”

Adamawa to review hijab use
Meanwhile, the Adamawa State government is considering a temporary review of the use of hijab in some areas as part of measures to contain suicide bombings.

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ahmad Sajoh, announced this yesterday, in Yola.

He spoke while addressing journalists on the outcome of an emergency security meeting over the Friday’s twin bomb blasts in Madagali Market that led to many casualties.

Sajoh said Governor Muhammadu Bindow would meet with members of Adamawa Muslim Council and other stakeholders to discuss the possibility of taking that temporary measure, adding that those that carried out the Madagali suicide attack were in hijab.

He said the meeting also underscored the need for people to be more vigilant during this festive period and in places like markets, motor parks, churches and mosques.
