*Say they’re not afraid of NFF’s ban threat

A week after pipping the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon to win the African Women Cup of Nations in Yaounde, Super Falcons players are still holed up in Abuja protesting the non payment of their allowances and they have vowed to remain there till Christmas.

One of the key players who spoke to Vanguard Sports yesterday, main tained that they will continue the protest not just for themselves but for all the national teams being owed allowances.

“We are going to be here a long time. If they want us to leave they must have to settle all our outstanding allowances,” said the player whose efforts more than helped the Super Falcons to win the game.

“It is about time we put things right, enough of all these messing around by the NFF,” she said, adding that the players were unperturbed by reported threats by the NFF to ban them from playing for the country.

“No! We are not afraid of being banned as long as we know that what we are asking for is rightly what is due to us.”

NFF officials are confident that the girls will see reason with the cash strapped federation and depart to their homes peacefully. It was gathered a total of N600,000 (about $1600 official rate)  has been paid to each player since the face off at Agura Hotel began. However, this is a far cry from the $23,000 owed the players.
