THE joint Community Development Associations, CDAs, of Atinporomeh in Olorunda Local Council Development Area, LCDA, in Badagry, has petitioned the Lagos State House of Assembly over the blockage of road and drainage leading to the community by the Police.

A statement by leadership of the CDAs, Messrs Solomon Bonu, O Ahmed and A Alao said the community is facing hardship due to the blockage of the only access road leading to the community.

The association said: “We unanimously write to inform you of the hardship currently faced by people of our community due to the blockage of the only access road leading to the community from Badagry express way and blockage of the drainage system that leads to the community by the Nigeria Police and its assigned contractors.”

Recalling the demolition of houses by the Nigeria police that occurred in December 2013, the community lamented that after the exercise, “we observed that there is an uncoordinated approach to the construction work currently going on the site to deny over 20,000 residents to the community access road. “It is sad that our people can no longer get to their homes because there is no existing road to the community and the environment is daily getting waterlogged at the moment.”

On the need for the Assembly’s intervention, the CDAs called for “a synergy among relevant ministries that could help in resolving the problem of how to gain access to our community. There is need for the Nigeria Police to get us alternative road to our community if they believe that their construction work will necessitate the blockage of the existing road. We are urging the authorities to help us appeal to the Nigerian police to create another motorable way into our community. We are law abiding citizens of Lagos State and we believe in the progress of Lagos state.”
