Osogbo—Osun State House of Assembly has directed the state government to set up a committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of an Osun state-born member of National Youths Service Corp NYSC, Ifedolapo Oladepo in Kano State.
According to a statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the directive was given yesterday at the plenary presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Akintunde Adegboye following a protest by some concerned students and family members of the deceased to register their grievances on the death.
Ifedolapo, a First Class Graduate of Transport Management from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, died recently, at the NYSC orientation camp in Kano, after a reported brief illness, but unable to get medical attention on time.
The Chief Whip, Honourable Folorunsho Bamisayemi, the statement said, decried the absence of quick medical intervention to prevent the death of the NYSC member.
Noting that the incidence call for thorough investigation to establish who to be held responsible for the shortening of the deceased life, he said her death was mysterious.
Also, Honourable Kamardeen Akanbi (Ede North), noted that the death of the late corp member was due to negligence on the part of NYSC management.
