DUTSE—No fewer than 2,586 supporters of All Progressives Congress, APC, have defected to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Birninkudu town, headquarters of Birninkudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State, with the state PDP Chairman, Salisu Mamuda, saying only the party was home, umbrella and basket that could accommodate everybody.

He said going by the achievements of the former governor, Sule Lamido, there was no point for any serious-minded citizen to remain in APC.

Also speaking, one of the PDP elders, Alhaji Muhammadu Daguro, said the defectors, who were mainly youths, had done well for taking the right decision at the right time.

According to him, those that left PDP and joined APC were now regretting their action and are making moves to return.

“This was possible because the ruling APC has woefully failed the citizens, especially the youths who voted en masse for APC,” he said.

After the defectors were received in Birninkudu, they were taken to Bamaina to be addressed by the former governor, Sule Lamido, who welcomed them and advised them to remain resolute and work for the success of the party in 2019.
