BENIN—THE Onojie of Opoji and 1st Vice Chairman, Edo State Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs, HRH Ehidiamen Aidonojie I, has accused leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state of fueling the disagreement between the Onojie of Uromi, HRH Anselm Aidenojie and the state government.
He called on the PDP leaders especially in Uromi and others to stay off and allow Esan traditional rulers resolve the issue for pea ce to reign.
The Onojie of Opoji lamented that the activities of the PDP leaders in Uromi and a few traditional rulers in Esanland were allegedly hampering the peace process.
According to him: “This issue could have been avoided if my advice was taken when I advised that we should see the Oba of Benin who is our chairman, on the issue. Three traditional rulers objected to my proposal and they said there was no need following the Onojie of Opoji to see the Oba.
Then when the governor returned we now heard of his suspension for one year. We set up a committee at Igueben and we told him to apologize to the state government and the woman involved. But these politicians came to discourage him. The detractors should let this young man do the right thing so that peace will reign.”
