PORT HARCOURT— MINISTER of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, yesterday said political differences would not affect the development goals of the Federal Government.

Speaking in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Nyesom Wike, the Minister said he was in the state to drum up support for the Employment Compensation Act, ECA, which “makes it mandatory   for   employers to provide   insurance cover for workers in the areas of death, accident and emergency health issues.”

According to him, the scheme would be introduced in all the states, adding that the private sector had already embraced it, and urged the governor to assist in driving the scheme

On his part, governor Wike commended the minister for setting aside party differences to come to the state to discuss matters of interest to workers.

He assured that the state government would key into the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF, programme   on the platform of ECA.
