The planned imposition may have led to the non-conduct of primary election that was fixed for last week Saturday.

Vanguard gathered that several members and chieftains of the party are not happy with the governor for the unilateral decision, they believe, portends great danger for the party.

One of the aggrieved members who pleaded anonymity for fear of being victimized told Vanguard that the move, if not checked, could lead to the party’s defeat in the council and subsequent elections.

According to the source, all members of the party except the governor are at a loss as to what the future holds for the party.

“We don’t know what is happening now in the party. It is a pity we found ourselves in this situation. There was supposed to be primary election for the councillor aspirants at the weekend and later for chairmanship aspirants but it never came up. The governor seems not to be interested in the primaries.”

When asked why the governor would disallow primaries, the source said the governor is afraid that his own loyalists popularly called “SENACO” meaning Senator Ajimobi Campaign Organization, may lose out because the second group who are loyalists of late Alhaji Lamidi Adesina, a former governor are more popular in the party.
