House of Representatives member, representing Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, has promised greater attention to the development of border communities across the nation even as he donated N5million on behalf of himself and another N5million on behalf of his father, Sir Kessington Adebutu towards the construction of ultra modern Ifo Community Hall.

Speaking at the grand finale of the annual Ifo day celebrations, held Weekend, Adebutu who is the Chairman, House Committee on Rural Development decried the systematic neglect of border communities, noting that border towns and villages across the nation have not been given proper attention in terms of provision of basic amenities that would make such communities fulfill their purpose as social and economic gateways between states and even international boundaries.

He said: “it pricks my heart that as a nation, we have not taken conscious efforts to develop communities like Ifo town, with its proximity to Lagos to turn them into probable leeway for decongestion and socio-economic advancement of Lagos and Ogun States.

Hon. Adebutu further stated that plans are underway in the National Assembly to ensure that rural communities are not shortchanged in the 2017 budget but rather facilitate a sizable percentage of the budget to be channeled into provision of infrastructure to rural communities to enhance economic and agricultural activities.

“You can be assured that as the Chairman of the House Committee on Rural Development, I am working assiduously with my colleagues at the National Assembly to make sure that the 2017 budget properly captures beneficial projects for rural areas”, he said.

The traditional ruler of Ifo, the Olu of Ifo, Oba Samuel Oladipupo thanked Hon. Adebutu for his donation, urging him not to relent in his good works as his humanitarians services speaks for him everywhere in the state.

In a related development, Hon. Adebutu also donated another N5million on behalf of his father for the construction of a new palace for the Alaye of Aiyetoro.
