DELTA State Government yesterday said it had strengthened the state supervisory agencies saddled with the responsibility of job certifications as part of efforts at avoid previous mistakes in the state’s expenditure profile.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who disclosed this while declaring open a one-day stakeholders   forum organized by the office of the state Auditor-General in collaboration with the State Employment and Expenditure for Results, SEEFOR, project, said his administration held in high esteem, the core values of accountability and transparency in government financial transactions.

Represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Government House, Dr. Henry Siakpere, Governor Okowa challenged the Auditors to step up their efforts in relation to their professional training towards proffering time – tested solutions capable of pulling the country out of the numerous challenges facing her.

Describing the theme of the forum; “Doing Business in SMART Government: The Audit Perspective” as apt and timely given the current economic situation in the country, Governor Okowa reaffirmed the state government’s decision to continue to deliver on its policy of fiscal consolidation and good governance.
