ABEOKUTA—The Ogun State House of Assembly yesterday summoned four state commissioners; Commissioners for Works and Infrastructure, Arch. Olamilekan Adegbite; Special Duties, Adeleke Adewolu; Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko and Budget and Planning, Adenrele Adesina over the state of the roads in the State.

The commissioners who were expected at the Assembly complex on today will be grilled on the need to expedite action on roads across the State with a view to setting pace for the 2017 estimate.

The Speaker of the House, Suraju Adekunbi gave the order for the invitation following submissions of members who spoke in unison under order 19 rule of the House indicating an urgent public concern on the need to commence rehabilitation of roads across the rural areas in the state as the rains subside.

Adekunbi assured that the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led- administration remained committed to the construction and rehabilitation of all roads aimed at enhancing the socio-economic status of the State.

Earlier in their remarks, members including ; Ganiyu Oyedeji, Olawale Alausa, Adeyemi Harrison and Rasaq Oduntan sought for the immediate palliative measures on the roads to allow for smooth human and vehicular movements on Ijoko-Ojodu, Eggua – Ilase – Oja Odan roads, Ijebu Ode and Ogun Waterside roads.

Meanwhile, members of the State House of Assembly have begun a move to pass into law a bill on provision for a trust fund that will cater for first aid and treatment of accident victims in the state.
