Wuraola Golf Tourney: Ade-Ojo promises golfers more leverage next year

CHAIRMAN and founder of the most  magnificent golf course in the West African subregion, the Smokin Hills Golf Resort in Ilara Mokin, Ondo State, Chief Michael Ade.Ojo has promised that the next edition of Elizabeth Wuraola  Adeojo  Memorial Golf Tournament would be an experience that golfers will never forget for a very long time.

The golf course which is presently the biggest in Nigeria and proudly one of the most challenging in Africa, south of the sahara was designed by Ron Garl in 2012 and constructed by one of the top leading certified golf course builders in the world – Messers Total Golf Construction of Florida. It was opened for play in 2012. Smokin Hills Golf Resort is located outside the quiet town of Ilara-Mokin. This is the hometown of Chief Ade Ojo – the founder of Elizade Toyota Nigeria as his own contribution to the development of tourism in his area.

Speaking weekend at the gala night climaxing this year’s edition of the tournament, Chief Ade Ojo an avid golf pundit said golfers coming for the 14th next year would not have to be accommodated outside the confine of the golf club as he tasked the Managing Director of  Toyota (Nigeria) Limited (TNL), Mr Adekunle Ojo who are the sponsors of the tournament for the immediate construction of a new five star hotel which must be completed before the next edition of the event.

He said, “I want to appreciate everyone that has come here to honour this yearly tournament and by the special grace of the Almighty God, golfers coming here next year will be accommodated within the confine of the Golf Resort. A new 5 star hotel complete with swimming pools will provide accommodation to golfers coming here next year to play in this new 18 hole championship golf course. This hotel will remain true to its African origins with the overall design and interiors being based on local Nigerian art and traditional architecture.
