Lagos—The police, yesterday, docked a 56-year-old Adeniyi Ayodele before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly obtaining goods by false pretence and stealing diesel valued at N4, 719,000.

The defendant is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant E. Esihiet, told the court that the defendant conspired to commit the alleged offence sometimes November 2015 at Ikeja, Lagos.

He said the defendant, fraudulently obtained 33,000 litres of diesel valued at N4,719,000, property of Optima Energy Resources Limited, with intent to sell and return the money which he knew to be false.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty and was granted N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned to December 14 for metion.
