Experts blame SMEs challenges on institutional management

ASABA—PARTICIPANTS at a United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, three-day training workshop in Effurun, Delta State, have blamed the challenges confronting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs, in the country on the institutional  management.

The training aimed at resuscitating SMEs in Nigeria through regular training and retraining of officials of the Ministries of Commerce and Industry, was for officials in the department of Small and Medium Enterprises, SMEs, in Delta State Ministry of Commerce and Industry and other stakeholders.

The participants, in a five-point communiqué by the Director of SMEs in the state, Mr. Patrick Isichei,   Deputy Director,   Mr.Kekema L.O. and Chief Industry Officer of the department,   Mr. Michael Obodi, noted that the workshop imparted more knowledge on them and commended the state government for facilitating the training.

They commended the UNDP for giving them the opportunity to refresh their knowledge, stressing the need for the training to be an annual event and called on the UNDP to assist the SMEs department in developing a template on Medium Enterprises.
