A 35-year-old man, Saheed Olaleye, who allegedly drove dangerously on the public highway and caused injury to two pedestrians on Tuesday appeared at a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.I. Dan- Oni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.

Dan- Oni ordered that the surety should be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment with his address verified.

Olaleye, a resident of No. 28, Fagbemi St., Amukoko area of Lagos, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of driving dangerously and driving dangerously to cause injury.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Christopher Okoliko, had told the court that the accused, who was driving one Mack Truck with registration no. KUJ 674 XJ, committed the offence at about 4.35 p.m. along Apapa-Oshodi Expressway on Nov. 5.

Okoliko alleged that the accused was driving dangerously not caring for other road users and that was why he caused body injury to a man and a woman who were standing by the road.

He said the woman, Celestina Chukwumata, and the man, Joshua Ememeka, were receiving treatment at a health centre.
‎
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 19(1) and 26 of the Road Traffic ‎Laws of Lagos State, 2012.

The case was adjourned to Dec.19 for mention. (NAN)
