Concerned Members for Peace in Ogbe-Ijoh-Warri Kingdom have accused the Delta State Government of failing to live up to its responsibilities in the protection of lives and property of residents in Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja communities of Udu and Warri South local government areas of the state.

Speaking on the heels of last week’s clash between Ayama and Isaba communities, national coordinator of the group, Friday Denighan, posited that Delta State Government had shown lack of political will towards finding a lasting solution to the conflict between the affected communities.

He said: “It is a fact that the state government did set up a panel of enquiry to find a lasting solution to the lingering land dispute between the affected communities, but how can you set up a panel of enquiry without giving them a timeframe to submit its report based on the terms and reference set out for them?”

“I stand to be corrected but it is obvious that just like the two previous panel of enquiries set up by the state government over this matter, this panel was setup to fail in the discharge of its duties.

“We of the Concerned Members for Peace in Ogbe-Ijoh-Warri Kingdom are calling for the intervention of the federal government and the appealing to the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to be proactive and remove politics from this matter to prevent the continuous loss of lives and properties over the lingering land dispute between both communities.”
