The AD governorship candidate, Olusola Oke, yesterday promised that his administration would ensure rapid development of poverty-stricken riverine communities of state, if elected.

Oke also promised to make the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC more alive to its responsibility of redressing the neglect, suffering and impoverishments associated with oil-rich riverine areas of the state.

Speaking at Agbadagba Obon and Arogobo communities in Ese Odo area of the state during his campaign tour of the area, he regretted that the neglect of the area and its attendant hardship had left people of the area wallowing in poverty.

In response to the requests of the communities for the construction of link bridge between Agadagba and Arogbo; connection of the riverine communities to the national grid for electricity supply and dredging of waterways for easy transportation among others,  Oke assured that the development projects in the area would be given priority.

Oke, who assured the people that his government would take up the requests one after the other, said he was familiar with the area coupled with his passion for its development and experience. “We should not allow retardation. We should not allow the wheel of progress roll backwards, hence the need to vote for the AD to redress all the wrong, neglect and injustice.’’
