GOVERNORSHIP candidate of the Alliance for Democracy, AD, Olusola Oke, yesterday, promised to redress the neglect that the state had suffered in the last seven and half years.
Oke bemoaned what he termed as “deliberate abandonment of life-transforming projects and amenities” especially in the oil-producing southern part of the state.
He assured the people that an AD government would complete abandoned projects in the area for the benefit of the people.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Okitipupa, Oke said the neglect of the projects and amenities had, no doubt, left the people impoverished and also impacted negatively on the economy of the state.
He listed the neglected projects and amenities to include the Olokola project; Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa; Omotosho Power Plant, Omotosho; Cassava Processing Company, Ikoya; Irele-Ayeka/Okitipupa Road; and igbokoda – Ugbonla Road.
The governorship candidate Oke also promised to restore electricity to the six local government areas of Ondo South Senatorial District- Odigbo, Ile Oluji/Okeigbo, Okitipupa, Irele, Ilaje and Ese Odo council areas which he said had been in total blackout in the last three years. In addition, he said he would rehabilitate link up roads and farmland raods in the area.
“The picture of the agony of joblessness, huge debt burden, poor infrastructure and the state of hopelessness that hover around the state dominate my thought,” he said.
