ABUJA—The leadership crisis currently rocking All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has further deepened as the party and its Acting National Chairman, Ozo Nwabueze Okafor, have asked an Abuja High Court to stop Dr. Victor Oye from parading himself as the party’s National Chairman.

In a motion on notice they filed pursuant to Section 6 (6) of the 1999 Constitution, Order 7 Rules (1) and (2) of the FCT’s High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2004, the plaintiffs, through their lawyer, Mr. Godwin Ogboji, sought for “an order of interlocutory injunction restraining Dr. Victor Ike Oye from further parading himself as the National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance during the subsistence of his suspension from the office, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit already pending before this court.”

It will be recalled that Oye was APGA’s National Chairman until his suspension from office by the party’s National Working Committee on October 5 over his alleged breach of APGA’s constitution.

The party’s NEC members indicted Oye and Alhaji Abubakar Adamu (Deputy National Chairman, North, and Chief Uchenna Okogbuo (Deputy National Chairman, South,) who are first, second and third defendants, respectively, in the suit, over allegations of “gross misconduct and infractions.”

Meanwhile, in the suit, dated October 7, the plaintiffs told the court that Okafor was appointed recently as the Acting National Chairman of APGA.

They said that despite having sworn to uphold the constitution of APGA, “the defendants soon after their election, as if sent to destroy APGA, started violently violating different provisions of APGA’s constitution to the detriment of the progress and growth of the party.”
