First Lady and wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari has reiterated her unalloyed support for the success of her husband’s administration.

The First Lady gave the assurances, especially to her supporters during a visit to Benisheik, one of the liberated towns of Borno State, where she flagged-off the distribution of relief items to displaced rural women under her brain-child ‘Get Involved’ initiative, a sub-component of her pet project, Future Assured.

Aisha who said the distribution of the relief materials was the beginning of a campaign promises being fulfilled also thanked her husband, President Buhari for bringing peace to the earlier displaced region.

“What I am after in particular is the success of my husband’s administration and he can’t do it alone except with the help of the governors, their wives and all members of our progressive party,” she declared at the flag off of nutritional foods and household utensils to Internally displaced persons who recently returned to their communities.

“We thank almighty Allah that we have started fulfilling some of the campaign promises that we made. This is the essence of leadership; you make a promise and then fulfilled it. We thank my dear husband who make sure peace is returning to the northeast states,” she said.

The wife of the President and her committee members on Humanitarian crisis kick-started the distribution of relief items to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who have since returned home in Kaga, local government area of Borno state following degrading of insurgents and relative peace.

The items were nutritional food collected from the ‘Get Involved’ initiatives, under her “Future Assured” programme, where individuals, agencies, parastatalls, her friends, associates and organizations put hands together and donated in cash or kind through office of the First Lady to assist victims of boko haram and other related violence in the country.

Flagging of the distribution of the relief items which is the pilot scheme in Beneshiekh town of Kaga, Mrs. Buhari said, 350 households who were IDPs, but have now returned back to their communities after liberation by troops were to benefit from the exercise.

She assured that, all communities affected in the course of insurgency in the north east and other crisis prone areas across the country will also benefit from the ‘Get Invloved’ gesture.

Her words; ” We are here with my committee members to Flagg off distribution of relief items to our IDPs who have returned back to their homes, we are doing this so as to cushion the hardship of our traumatized victims of boko haram and other related violence that have hitherto affected some parts of this country, particularly the north east.

“Now that peace have been restored by our gallant troops and our IDPs have also returned home, we deem it feet with my friends, associates and well wishers to assist our people with nutritional food items. I believe this gesture which will be extended to all parts of this country affected by violence, so as to encourage those still leaving in camps go back to their liberated communities.

“Like in the case of Borno which is the most hit states by insurgents, I have nominated wife of the state governor, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima to be the chairperson of the distribution committee, this is because I have confident in her that she will judiciuosly use her office to ensure that the items reached a target beneficiaries”. Aisha Buhari said.

She therefore thanked her friends and associates for donating the items as part of her ‘Get Involved’ pet project.

In her welcome address, wife of the Borno State Governor, Nana Shettima thanked Mrs. Buhari for choosing the state to kick start the programme, which according to her, is not only timely, but necessary, in view of the devastation executed by insurgents in the state, which had forced over 1.6 million people out of their ancestral homes for the past two years.

She also thanked those who have contributed towards the success of the ‘Get Involved’ programme which has direct impact on the lives of victims of violence. She however called on individuals, corporate organizations to contribute and promised to ensure that the items reached the target beneficiaries.

In his brief remark at the occasion, governor Shettima said, the emergence of boko haram was ‘the worst calamity in the history of Borno state’, and commended President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Nigerian Military and other security agencies in the fight against terrorism and concern to the plight of victims of insurgency in the north east and the country in general.

Also in her vote of thanks, Secretary of the Committee, Hon. Zuwaira Gambo expressed gratitude to wife of the President to come to the aid of victims of violence perpetrated by boko haram sect and other miscreants in the country.

She therefore said, items donated which is going to be a continous process comprised of bags of rice and Masovita, detergents, cartoons of powdered milk, kitchen utensils, condiments among others were given to each family household. End

Aisha Buhari flags off food distribution for returnee IDPs in Borno

Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari has flagged off the distribution of foods and household utensils to returnees from Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camps to fast track their resettlement in their communities.

Mrs Buhari who was accompanied by the wives of the Chief of Air Staff, that of former Inspector General of Police, Mrs Idris and former deputy governor of Plateau State, Mrs Pauline Tallen, said at Beneshiek, headquarters of Kaga Local Government that fund for the procurement of the foods were sourced from the donations from well-meaning Nigerians through her Get-Involve-Pprogramme, a unit of her Future-Assured-project.

She said she was happy that the flag off of the food distribution took place, noting that it was in fulfillment of her husband’s campaign promise to resettle displaced victims of Boko Haram insurgency and rescue all citizen abducted or held by Boko Haram including the Chibok girls.

Wife of Borno State governor, Nana Shettima commended Mrs Buhari for the distribution, adding that it was the third time the First Lady would visit the state to attend to the humanitarian challenges of Borno people. She assured that she will continue to collaborate with Mrs Buhari’s Future Assured project through her Support for Widows, Orphans and Tsangaya (SWOT) programme.
