In a bid to eradicate drug abuse among Nigerian youths, convener of African Youth Initiative on Crime Prevention, Chris Ibe, has charged the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government to initiate effective awareness on the consequences of drug abuse by young people.

Speaking to newsmen in Lagos, at the weekend, on the 2016 National Youth Summit on Drugs and Substance Abuse Prevention, Ibe said the summit which is scheduled for October 26 -27, 2016 at the former SGF Conference Hall, Federal Secretariat, Abuja, would bring together youth leaders and heads of youth organizations, spearheading the fight against drugs. “The need for this government to create awareness on the dangers and repercussions associated with young people involved in drugs and illicit trafficking within the country cannot be over emphasized.

The summit will create a platform for interaction and sharing of ideas on youth participation in the fight against drugs”. Ibe said.

He commended Senator Oluremi Tinubu for supporting the project.
