LAGOS—Policemen attached to Okokomaiko Division in Lagos State have arrested a suspected member of a four-man robbery gang that specialised in attacking unsuspecting persons in the area, dispossessing them of cash and other valuables.

The gang, as gathered, struck at Iyana Ishashi, near Okokomaiko, at 5p.m., yesterday. Their victim was said to have raised alarm, which attracted residents and passers-by, who gave them a chase.

In their bid to escape in their operational motorcycle, they ran into an Anti-Robbery Police team from the division, which blocked them with their van.

In the process, one of the suspects, identified as Ifeanyi Ogechi, was arrested while others escaped.

Confirming the arrest, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmus, said: “One Beretta pistol and three rounds of life ammunition, one motorcycle, a bag containing N5,000 and another containing three handsets were recovered from the suspect.”
