PORT HARCOURT: THE family University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Dr. Leban Eeba, abducted, October, last year, has called on the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris. to urgently order a full scale investigation into the matter, alleging that police officers handling the matter in Zone 6, Calabar, have soiled their hands.
In a press statement signed by Bar Israel Abosi, the family said they were not satisfied with the way the Zone 6 Command of the Police in Calabar was handling the matter. Continuing, they said all effort to transfer the matter from the zone 6 Police to Force Headquarters for thorough investigation had allegedly been frustrated.
While expressing fears that some policemen handling the issue in the zone 6 command had been compromised by the prime suspect arrested, the family said they were sure that if the Inspector General of Police orders a thorough investigation into the matter, success could be recorded.
A prime suspect in the kidnap saga, who upon his arrest by the Police command in Port Harcourt and having made useful statements regarding the kidnap of the missing lecturer, had connived with the police to subvert the course of justice”, the statement read in part.
“Can justice be attained in this case if continued to be investigated by Zone 6, Calabar that has already been shamefully disgraced in the open court of fraudulent practices? Can the Police pay deaf attention and conceal the investigation of a prominent citizen, University iecturer, just because of the failure, reckless and fraudulent attitude of police officers at the zone?
If the above questions are in the negative , then it becomes paramount for the Force Headquarters to take over the case and do the needful by bringing corrupt and dishonest officers to book. “ the family said.
