Agwu Samuel, the 31-year-old man that was arrested, weekend, by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, with 10 pellets of cocaine weighing 110 grammes, has said that he went into drug trafficking to raise money to set up a new business.

The Abia State-born suspect was arrested during an inward screening of passengers on a South Africa Airline flight from Brazil through Johannesburg, at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos.

He was arrested alongside one Anazodo Innocent, 46.

While Innocent was found to have inserted wraps of cocaine into his anus on his way to Italy, Samuel concealed his in the collar of his jacket, on his way from Brazil.

The NDLEA Commander, MMIA, Lagos, Ahmadu Garba, said: “Anazodo Innocent was found with seven pellets of cocaine weighing 375 grammes inserted in his anus, while Agwu Samuel had 10 pellets of cocaine weighing 110 grammes concealed inside his jacket.

“Both arrests were made during routine check on passengers. Agwu was nabbed during inward screening of passengers on a South Africa Airline flight from Brazil through Johannesburg.

“The second suspect, Anazodo, was caught during screening of passengers on a Royal Air Maroc flight going to Milan, Italy.”

During interrogation, Samuel, who deals on foot wears in Togo, blamed his indulgence on his bid to survive.

He said “I use to sell shoes in Togo until I lost goods worth N3 million. This made me to travel to Brazil in a desperate search for greener pastures.”
