DELTA State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said that it will continue to support the candidacy of the party’s governorship candidate in Edo State, Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu, noting that no amount of provocation would discourage it from doing so.
The party, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, condemned what it called an attempt by Edo State governor, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, to drag his Delta State counterpart, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa into Edo State politics.
He said: “We do not take kindly to the attacks on the personality of our governor and the leader of our political party in Delta State.
“We have, however, taken great satisfaction in the response of Delta State Information Commissioner, Mr. Patrick Ukah, to Governor Oshiomhole. It is imperative to let Oshiomhole know that he cannot dictate to Delta PDP. He must learn to live with the fact that the PDP is one big, indestructible family and we will provide maximum moral support to our brothers in Edo State to ensure the resounding victory of Pastor Ize-Iyamu.
“Indeed, he should rather be seeking ways of possibly mending his broken and fractured All Progressives Congress, APC, house which now is rapidly collapsing and also be prepared for the defeat that will surely be inflicted on his party soon.
‘’Finally, let us state categorically that as a peace-loving state, we don’t condone militants and most certainly do not export militants. Governor Okowa is too sophisticated, responsible and strategically astute to engage in the crude and reductionist ploy of moving people around for the purpose of election. Nigeria has even grown beyond that pedestrian strategy.”
