MAIDUGURI—The wife of  Borno State governor, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, weekend, donated  100 rams and condiments to widows and Tsangaya school teachers to celebrate Eid El-Kabir fesitivities slated for today.

The widows, according to Government House sources, lost their husbands during the six-year Boko Haram insurgency in various parts of the state.

The gifts have been an annual tradition under her pet project, Support for Women, Orphans and Tsangaya, SWOT, Foundation to assist vulnerable groups of people in society.

Distributing the rams at Government House, Multi-Purpose Hall, Maiduguri, Hajiya Shettima told the widows and teachers that the Foundation would continue to cater for their “needs and welfare,” as peace was being restored in the state.

“Catering for the needs and welfare of the vulnerable is a collective responsibility, as enjoined in Islam that every Muslim is expected to support and take care of the needy in the society,” she siad.
