Ijaw leader, Chief Godspower Gbenekama, who confirmed the development, said: “The boys were released to the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Mr Kingsley Otuaro.”
His words: “I thank the federal government for listening to the cry of the people and I also thank the people of the Niger Delta for their persistence in demanding the release of the youths.”
Gbenekama said: “I further appeal to the government to reconsider the case against ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo to enable him give his father, late Chief Thomas Ekpemupolo, a befitting burial.”
He added: “I call on all Gbaramatu citizens, who are aggrieved over his death to simmer down since he was already dead and there was nothing anybody could do to bring him back.”
Gbenekama asserted: “The federal government should continue to do the needful for peace to reign in Niger Delta, especially as militants had ceased hostilities.”
