Conte, Mourinho, Guardiola battle for coach’s award

Antonio Conte  has only been in charge of  Chelsea  for three Premier League  games, but the Italian coach has done enough to earn a nomination for August’s Manager of the Month award.

Three wins out of three made it a perfect start for Conte at Stamford Bridge, but the former Azzurri boss is already facing competition from Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola after they too earned maximum points.

Conte’s start marks a departure from last season’s shocking beginning, with nine defeats in the opening 16 league games costing Mourinho his job at Stamford Bridge.

The Portuguese boss has made a much brighter beginning at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils also securing maximum points against Bournemouth, Hull and Southampton to sit third behind Chelsea on goals scored.

Big things are expected of Guardiola after his huge success at both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, and the Catalan coach is delivering with wins against Sunderland, Stoke and West Ham seeing City top of the table on goal difference.
