Lagos PDP denies factionalisation

By Dapo Akinrefon

lagos—The Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has dismissed reported factionalisation of the party, calling on stakeholders to shun perceived impersonators parading themselves as party leaders.

The party also appealed to security operatives to fish out perpetrators of last week’s fracas at the party’s secretariat in Lagos during the party’s general assembly and appealed to members to shun any act of provocation and harassment that might truncate the party’s plans to win the forthcoming local government elections.

Speaking through its Publicity secretary, Taofik Gani,  PDP alleged that there was an attempt by a group led by one Segun Adewale to destabilise the party and ridicule it in the eyes of the public.

The party, in a statement said “The state chapter is against the recent attack of peaceful members of the party who attended the party’s general assembly held on Wednesday. The spontaneous attacks left many members injured. This is not the character of new lagos pdp and we condemn it just as we expect the law enforcement agents to investigate and bring the culprits to book.”
