ABAKALIKI-THE leadership of Concern Igbo citizens, CIC in the country, on Wednesday, urged Igbo politicians who are in the habit of maligning their counterparts to desist from such attitude as such act was capable of destroying the unity and oneness existing among the Igbo people.

A statement issued in Abakaliki by its National Chairman, Chief Okechukwu Nnogu explained that the damaging comments against Peter Obi were signs of jittery, cowardliness and political inconsistency from never-do-well politicians.

The statement read: “The attention of the Concerned Igbo Citizens have been drawn to a malicious social media news that former governor of Anambra state, Mr Peter Obi was rebuked and quarreled with Dr Alex Ekwueme over an alleged threats of killing the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB,  Nnamdi Kanu.

“CIC totally condemned this grave allegation against the person of Peter Obi which the sole aim is to tarnish his image and records as the best Igbo Governor since 1999. This calculated and systematic antics of uncomfortable political foes of Okwute Ndigbo must stop now.

“Ndigbo are more wiser now, the difference between realities and propagandas are clear.  Peter Obi’s eight years rule as Anambra state Governor which was characterized with monumental grassroots development, good governance, educational revolution/ upgrading that makes Anambra state to take the lead in the educational sector in Nigeria catapulted him to be honoured as Igbo Leader.

“Even outside governance, he continued to eradicate poverty, rendering financial and logistic assistance to schools including scholarship award. Peter Obi is generally loved by Ndi Anambra state and Ndigbo, he has written his name on the sand of Igbo history.

“CIC advise Mr Peter Obi not to relent in his good work and philanthropies to the downtrodden, they want to frustrate your political ambition with blackmail which will affect your public trust and confidence.

“Obi and Orji Uzor Kalu are two former Igbo Governors that command the respect of Igbo masses. Ndigbo knows and follow their real leaders; self respect and public honour can never be bought with money or influence.

“CIC enjoined Ndi Anambra state to ignore the malicious work of mischief makers”.
