ABUJA—FORMER  governorship aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Gabriel Oyibode, yesterday, expressed his support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption.

Oyibode declared his stance after assessing the current pace of the fight against corruption and the tempo sustained by the Buhari’ administration, despite challenges experienced in the process.

He noted that the fight against corruption had been a good one, stressing that the level of impunity with which the previous government handled the finances of the country was beyond reckless abandon.

According to him, President Buhari, with his anti-corruption fight, brought some sanity into governance in the country.

He also urged Nigerians to support and encourage the government to do more and rid the nation of corruption in both the public and private sectors, instead of unfounded criticisms.

He said: “As a person, I see Buhari having the country at heart and we just pray the people he is appointing will not sabotage his effort.

“So far so good on his corruption drive. I appreciate it and we are also waiting to see the result.

“At least, those funds looted, we want to see them repatriated back and we want to know those who did it according to law, and these are the expectations of the people.”

Oyibode, who had been in the Vanguard for giving young people quality life through empowerment and engagement, said the youths were given serious considerations in the 2016 budget in terms of empowerment, employment and entrepreneurship.

He said: “In the 2016 budget, I believe the government has made adequate provisions for the teeming youths who are unemployed to carry them along. There is also prospect for the youth under this administration.”
